can be even better fun if you ask Judy to help you grow Japanese indigo [Polygonum tinctorium]
or woad [Isatis tinctoria]
both should grow quite well in your area
then when you beat the leaves into cloth they'll change colour
and go blue green
these leaves were a bit old and yellowish, fresher ones do better
